CHICAGO – Cook County examiners have dropped murder allegations against a lady and her 14-year-old child in the shooting demise of a man during a battle in a West Pullman eatery after the video became visible appearance that man punching the lady before her child shot him.

In the killing of 32-year-old Jeremy Brown on June 18 at the Maxwell Street Express in the 11600 block of South Halsted Street, 35-year-old Carlishia Hood and her son were charged with first-degree murder. At the time of the incident, Hood had a valid concealed carry license and a valid FOID card. She was also charged with contributing to a minor’s delinquency.

Jeremy Brown a father of two twin girls, died just one day after their birthdays.

All charges against both Hood and her child were dropped on Monday. “Based upon our continued review and in light of emerging evidence,” the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office said in a statement.

In addition, Foxx’s office stated, “Based upon the facts, evidence, and the law we are unable to meet our burden of proof in the prosecution of these cases.”

Hours after the charges were dropped Monday morning, Hood left the Cook County Jail and embraced her family. She didn’t say anything when she was released, but her family and attorney said they were glad she was back home and that justice had been done.
